Jasna Šekarić


            Jasna Šekarić is a Serbian sport shooter. She was born in Belgrade, but she grew up in Osijek, Croatia, where she began to practice shooting. In the school competitions, she first competed with a rifle and achieved a decent place at the regional championship. She was named the best sportswoman and shooter in Yugoslavia, Serbia and Montenegro and Serbia several times. She participated in 7 Olympic games, and she has won 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal. In 2008, she was the flag carrier for Serbia at the opening ceremony of the Olympic games. Jasna is listed in the golden book of sport shooting as the only shooter participating at five Olympic games while being finalist in all five.

            Other than the Olympics, she has won three gold medals at World championship, five gold medals at European Championship, as well as more than 20 other notable medals in different competitions. 

Though she is 52 years old, she will participate in Rio de Janeiro at 2016 Olympic games, which will be her eight appearance in the Olympics. She is to become only the second woman in history with that much appearances at the Olympic games. Hopefully, she will win a medal!

Vlade Divac


Vlade Divac is a retired Serbian professional basketball player, who spent most of his career in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He began playing basketball in his hometown Prijepolje for the team KK Elan. His first professional team was Sloga from Kraljevo. In 1986, he signed for KK Partizan Belgrade and he was the top star of transfer season. After playing with great success for 3 seasons in Partizan, Divac was drafted in 1989 by the Los Angeles Lakers. He became one of the first European players to have an impact in the league. Even though he spoke no English at all, he quickly became popular among his teammates and the public for his charm. In his first season, he was picked for the NBA All-Rookie team.


He played for Lakers for 7 seasons, and then he was traded to Charlotte Hornets for Kobe Bryant. In 1998, he signed a contract as a free agent with Sacramento Kings, and he became one of the best players in Kings history. Playing alongside Pedja Stojaković, he made Kings franchise great. Tho they never won championship, it was the best Kings team in history. He retired from professional basketball at the age of 37, in 2005. Kings retired his No. 21 jersey in a ceremony on March 31, 2009. He is one of the seven players in NBA history to record 13000 points, 9000 rebounds, 3000 assists and 1500 blocks. In 2010, he was inducted in FIBA Hall of Fame.

As for his National team stats, he played his first match at 1986 FIBA World Championship in Madrid, at the age of 18. He played on numerous Euro and World Championships, winnig 2 World gold medals, and 3 Euro gold medals.
At this day, he is the president of Serbian Olympic Committee, since 2009. In March 2015, he was hired as the vice president of basketball and franchise operations by the Sacramento Kings. He was promoted as vice president of basketball operations and general manager in August 2015.

Milorad Čavić

               Milorad Čavić is a retired Serbian swimmer. He was born in Anaheim, California and he went on college there. Since his parents are Serbian nationality, he also has Serbian citizenship. He is well know for butterfly style of swimming and he won numerous medals. He made appearances on 4 Olympic games, first one in Sydney in 2000 and last one in London 2012 where he finished his career. In 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he battled with one of the best swimmers ever, Michael Phelps, and he lost in 100m butterfly by a 0.01s. He won silver medal. Years after,a company that measured time admitted that they were maybe wrong and that the Čavić was probably faster than Phelps. 
            Čavić also made appearances in European Championship, where his results were great. In 2003 in Dublin on European Short Court Swimming Championship, he won the gold medal in 100 m butterfly and he set a new world record. He also won silver medal in 50 m freestyle. He defended his tittle in 2006, 2007 and 2008 in Rijeka, where he set a new European record. One more controversial thing happened in 2008 at European Championship, where Čavić won 50 m butterfly tittle, setting a new European record meanwhile, but he was disqualified by the European Swimming Federation (LEN) because he wore a T-shirt on medals ceremony that read "Kosovo is Serbia". At the end of 2008, he was declared the best Serbian athlete.
At the 2009 World Aquatics Championship, he finished second in finals, behind Phelps and they were the first two to brake under 50 seconds. In 2012. he finished fourth at Olympic games in London, and after that he retired.
He was such a good sportsman that Serbia had a stamp with his character on it.



Dragan Škrbić - One of the best pivotmen

Dragan Škrbić is a former Serbian handball player. He started his career in Crvenka, where he played from 1980-1988. With his talent and persistence he became one of the most perspective players in Yugoslavia, so in 1988 he joined Red Star where he played for 5 years and he was one of the most important players there, but he didn't win any trophies. After Red Star, he went to Spain, where he played for Atletico Madrid and Ademar Leon. He was named the best goalscorer and the best foreign player in Spain for season 1996/1997. For season 1997/1998 he joined German team Hameln where he became the best player of the season. 
Škrbić spent his best years in Spanish club Barcelona, where he played for six seasons, from 2002 till 2008. He won a heap of trophies with the Spanish giant, and in 2005 he won Champions League, the most valuable trophy in club competitions. He was named the best pivotman in seasons 2003/2004 and 2004/2005 in Spanish national championship. 
For the national team of Serbia, he played 215 games. He participated in World Championship in 1999 and 2001 where he won bronze medals, and in European Championship in 1996, also winning bronze medal. He retired from the national team in 2003. 
Probably the biggest personal accomplishment was in 2000, when he was named the best player of the world. 

Vladimir Vujasinović - Water polo legend

 Vladimir Vujasinović  is a former Serbian water polo player, who played for national team of Serbia in 341 matches and scored 391 goals. He started his career in water polo club Primorje from Rijeka, city where he was born. After playing two seasons for them, he joined "Crvena Zvezda Jupeks" in 1991 and stayed there for 3 years. During that period, he made his first appearance in national team and scored his first goal against France at the age of 17. From 1995, he was a standard member of national team and he won dozens of trophies with national team since then. Probably the most valuable ones are 2005 World Championship gold and 3 golds on European Championships. Although water polo is one of the most successful sports in Serbia, he never won the Olympics. He has 2 bronze medals and one silver. 
           During his career, he played with success for Spanish club Barcelona, Italian clubs Rome and Pro Recco, as well as Brazilian Fluminense and Serbian club VK Partizan. He won 4 Champion Leagues, 3 of them with Pro Recco. He was named best player in the world several times. Also, he was the MVP of 2001 European Championship and sportsman of the year by the Olympic committee of Serbia in 2005. He returned to VK Partizan in 2008 and played there until his retirement in 2012. Since then, he was head coach of VK Partizan until recently. 

Nikola Grbić - volleyball

         

 Nikola Grbić  is a former Serbian volleyball player. He was born in a volleyball family, where his father Miloš Grbić was in the national team of Yugoslavia that won first medal in history on European Championship in 1975. His brother Vladimir is one of the best players Serbia ever had and he is in volleyball hall of fame in Holy Oak. 
        He played for national team of Yugoslavia, then Serbia and Montenegro, and finally for Serbia. He started playing for GIK Banat in 1987 and after that he played for Vojvodina. In 1995 he goes to Italy and plays there for various teams until 2013, when he goes to Zenit Kazan and plays there until his retirement in 2014. He won a lot of trophies with clubs and national team, from where the most notable are definitely golden medal at summer Olympic games in Sydney in 2000, and golden medal in European championship in 2001. He was a captain of national team from 1999 to 2010. He was one of the best setters in the world claiming that prize multiple times. In 1997, he was named the best player of the world.
        He won volleyball champions league twice, and he played several more times on the Final Four tournament. He won national titles with almost every club he played in, which includes Yugoslav, Italian and Russian national championship. He was awarded "Sportsman of the year" in 1997, which was awarded by the Olympic committee of Serbia. 
          After retiring from active playing, he started his coaching career in Italian club Sir Safety Perugia. In February 2015, he became head coach of the national team of Serbia. In his first major tournament as a head coach, national team of Serbia finished 7th on the European Championship in 2015. 

Dragan Dzajic - football maestro

             Dragan Džajić is a former Serbian footballer who is widely considered to be one of the best Serbian footballers to emerge from former Yugoslavia. Regarded as a preeminent and very proficient left winger. Džajić has been known for his "great crosses and passes, unstoppable dribbling with great pace, natural technique and some of the best left footed free kicks ever seen". Džajić is viewed by some football experts as perhaps one of the most underrated players in European football, partly because he played in Yugoslavia. In December 2011 Džajić was named in being part of "the greatest European Championship XI of all time" by Goal.com. 
              He started his football career in a small town of Ub, near Belgrade, playing for the local club "FK Jedinstvo", where he was spotted by FC Red Star from Belgrade. He spent 2 years in youth team and at the age of 17, he played his first senior match against "Budućnost Titograd". He played 590 matches for FC Red Star and scored 287 goals, by winning 5 league titles and 4 domestic cups. He is considered to be one of the clubs most important players ever, and therefore he became one of five players that earned "Zvezdina Zvezda" status. He also made 85 caps and scored 23 goals for national team of Yugoslavia, playing in Euro Cup finals in 1968, which was his most notable result with national team. 
              He retired as a player in 1978 and he began performing a role as Red Star's technical director. In his first season in new role, club reached the UEFA Cup finals. He became club's president in 1998 and retired from that position in 2004 due to health issues. He was charged for corruption and transfer malversation in 2011, and all charges were dropped in 2012. He was reelected for Red Star's president in December of 2012.
